MARYAM Henderson-Uloho
During the 13 years of incarceration, SisterHearts CEO/Founder Maryam Henderson-Uloho envisioned a place where inmates could go to tap into their own creativity without judgment or fear. A place where they could be free to think and express themselves as humans. Her goal was to create a place that would reflect the hidden treasures inside herself and other inmates. Her ideas in prison planted seeds that gave birth to SisterHearts, Inc.
Maryam started the store with only $40 and within three years owns the largest thrift store in St. Bernard Parish and has been featured in an award-winning documentary.
Maryam has become a nationally recognized leader and motivational speaker.
Her film, book, and written articles are known all around the world.
